WEST PLAINS, Mo. (March 13, 2026)—"We are proud to bring the Mel Hambelton Racing Heartland Late Model Tour tour to life in West Plains," said Heartland Promotions co-founder Trenton Berry. "Legit Speedway Park will be the season opener. (Promoter) Gary Stolba has been a friend to us for many years. We are glad to open at his place.
"Also, we get to pay tribute to the late Steve Rushin near the end of the season. Steve was an overall awesome guy and loved dirt late models."
The inaugural season of the HLMT will debut at Legit Speedway Park on Friday, May 15. The series returns for a doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, October 2-3,
The track is a premier 3/8-mile red clay oval dirt track located in West Plains, Mo. The 80-acre facility hosts various classes on Saturday nights, including Sport Mods, Factory Stocks, Super Stocks, Legit Modifieds and Sportsman LM.
